A Little Bit of What I Know About God, His Timeless Relevance, and How His Presence Balances Our Lives
Anything that is out of balance is never good. God’s presence assures that we operate as we should. When we aren’t balanced, everything seems to go awry. We have all had experiences that could exemplify that problem. For instance, our performance suffers when we work long periods of time without rest, our bodies suffer when we do not eat or when we eat too much. We also put ourselves in danger when we exhibit reckless behaviors without at least some amount of discipline. Yet we stay stagnant and never truly live a full life if we never ever step out on faith and take a risk. A lot of us could probably also attest to giving too much of ourselves within a relationship and becoming emotionally drained when our partner doesn’t contribute enough.
Our need for balance is partially birthed out of the desire to believe in something bigger than ourselves; something that has a bigger handle on this thing called life and our purpose within it. Our belief in our ability to access God makes us feel as though we can find our center and somehow gain some peace and equilibrium in our lives. We as humans are always searching for that centering, that peace, and a sense of balance, and we therefore seek God. It is an inner desire or it could even be described as a void that no one else or nothing else can fill. Subsequently this feeling of needing to believe in something bigger than ourselves keeps God relevant in our lives because of that need.
Need is a current condition and therefore our need for balance and thus our need of God ensures that the relevance of God is perpetual. He will always be relevant and has always been relevant because he has always been needed. If He weren’t needed, then He wouldn’t matter to us and the idea of God would have perhaps faded away long ago. But it hasn’t and different religions have their belief and perspective on how to access God. In fact, our need for God is so intense that religious systems have been put into place since the beginning of time to organize, protect, and standardize our different spiritual beliefs in God. Religion as Merriam-Webster defines it, is an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules used to worship a god or a group of gods. However, as it stands, religion has become a very murky, controversial, and divisive system. I suppose that could be attributed to the fact that because people aren’t perfect then consequently the systems which they create are not either. Still, no matter how murky, controversial, and divisive religion has been or increasingly becomes, it does not take away our need and desire to connect with God. Personally, as a Christian, I believe that my access and connection is Jesus. Everyone doesn’t believe that. Some believe that there are many ways to the Father and some don’t believe in anything at all. I say that is between God and that person. My own road is mine to travel and if by chance someone outside of the faith that I practice is inspired by what I practice through watching me, then I’d certainly share my belief and how it has enhanced my life.
Still, He is bigger and more relevant than any established religious system because He IS the standard and therefore He sets the standard and His standard should be our way of life. In this way, as we seek God, He is able to meet all of our needs because He IS everything we need.
He is our Balance.
He is our Peace
He is our Beginning and our End.
He is everything we need.
He is a Being creating our Being.
He is I AM.
